Princess Puppydog

Bored in the car.

Jon and I don’t have kids–we have a pup.  We didn’t plan it that way, but we love our life and our baby, even if she is a five-year-old dog. 😉

We always planned to have one of us home with the kids once we had them.  The opportunity for me to leave my job and stay home presented itself about six years ago, and we decided to give it a try before there were kids in the picture.   At some point we realized kids likely weren’t in the cards, but we were already used to my being home, so we stuck with it.  Which is how I became a childless housewife in 2014 (or, as my husband likes to call it, a stay-at-home puppy mommy).

Of course, our arrangement has led to a very spoiled dog.  She is our only baby, and she gets a lot of attention. She is used to being home with me all day, curled up next to me as I read or write.  So, we were a bit concerned about how she would adjust when we decided to move five hundred miles away from the only house she has ever known earlier this year.

We shouldn’t have worried.

I have always heard that kids are resilient. Apparently, dogs are, too.  Cami has always hated the car, with a tendency to get carsick. She was very choosy about her “bathroom” spots, and would hold it until we got home if we were out and about or on a walk.

Surprisingly, she did fine on the car ride down.  She did fine in finding new potty spots. She even did great during the first two months when we were in a temporary apartment without any of our own furniture.

As amazed as we were that she was so good through the two-plus-month move process, I have never seen her so happy as she was when we brought her into the new house, and she found her favorite spot in her favorite chair again.  I guess some things never change.  😉

(And, yes, this post was just an excuse to post cute pictures of the pup). 😀

Do you have any pets? Have you had to move with them? How did they do? Feel free to share pics in the comments!
